I am a resident of Grande prairie since 1972, when I arrived here from Edmonton to work for the Peace River Regional Planning Commission. I worked there for 2 and half years as a community planner, and in administration. I left to work for Alberta Culture as one of five field representatives in the new department. As part of my work there I helped form Troyanda the Ukrainian Cultural Organization in Grande Prairie, and the Prairie Gallery , now the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie.
I have served on City Council for a total of nine years in the early 1980’s and again in the 1990’s. I have also served as President of Grande Prairie Little (now Live) Theatre, on the GPRC Academic Council, the Senate of the University of Alberta, and served on the Board of the Prairie Art Gallery, and Co Chaired The United way with my long suffering (since 1976) wife, Margaret Kirwan.
